Puncture Repair

Not every puncture needs a new tyre. We assess and repair on-site to British safety standards.

About Our Puncture Repair Service

A punctured tyre doesn't always mean you need a new one. In many cases, a proper repair is the safest and cheapest option. We do it on-site at your location so you don't have to drive on a damaged tyre or wait for recovery.

We follow British Standard BS AU 159 for all repairs. That means we take the tyre off the wheel to inspect the inside for hidden damage, apply an internal patch-and-plug repair (not just an external plug), and make sure it's airtight before refitting. If the damage is to the sidewall, bead area, or the hole is larger than 6mm, we won't attempt a repair. We'll tell you straight if a replacement is the safer option.

Each repair takes roughly 30 to 45 minutes from arrival. Our vans carry portable tyre changers and balancers, so the wheel gets rebalanced after repair to prevent vibration. We also check the tyre pressure and inspect the remaining tread depth while the tyre is off.

Puncture repairs are a lot cheaper than a new tyre and are covered by our workmanship guarantee for the remaining legal life of the tyre. If a repair we've done fails, we'll replace the tyre at no charge. And if a repair isn't safe, we'll tell you honestly rather than try to sell you something you don't need.

How It Works

From your first call to getting back on the road, here's what to expect.

1

Report the Puncture

Call or message us with your location and what's happened. If you're not sure whether the tyre can be repaired, we can advise over the phone.

2

On-Site Inspection

Our technician takes the tyre off the wheel to inspect the puncture location, size, and any internal damage that's not visible from outside.

3

Repair or Advise

If the puncture meets BS AU 159 criteria, we do a full internal patch-and-plug repair. If it doesn't, we'll explain why and give you a replacement quote.

4

Refit and Balance

The repaired tyre is refitted, rebalanced, and inflated to the correct pressure. We check for leaks and make sure the repair is solid before you drive off.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about our puncture repair service.

Can all punctures be repaired?

No. Under BS AU 159, a puncture can only be repaired if it's in the central three-quarters of the tread area, the hole is no bigger than 6mm, and there's no internal structural damage. Sidewall punctures, bead damage, and run-flat tyres driven on while flat can't be safely repaired.

How long does a puncture repair last?

A BS AU 159 repair is permanent. It'll last for the remaining legal life of the tyre. The internal patch bonds to the carcass and the plug seals the puncture channel, making it as strong as the surrounding tyre.

Is a repaired tyre safe on the motorway?

Yes. A properly done BS AU 159 repair restores the tyre to its full speed rating and load capacity. There are no speed restrictions. That said, tyres repaired with just an external plug (not our method) aren't considered safe for sustained high-speed use.
